Maple Walnut Banana Waffles

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

These waffles are super simple and flavorful, bursting with banana flavor in every bite. Top it off with whatever you like, but caramelized bananas are highly recommended.

The perfect breakfast in bed idea for your loved one or even for yourself! I used my mini waffle maker which I am obsessed with right now! It is a perfect size and makes perfectly shaped waffles. It cooks within minutes. It is so easy, you cannot mess up!

These waffles are paleo, vegan, and gluten-free! Sweetened with just 2 tbsp of maple syrup because the bananas already add sweetness as well. The base is similar to all my other pancake recipes which require only 5 key ingredients.

Ingredients Needed to Make These Maple Walnut Banana Waffles

  • Paleo flour– I used paleo flour to keep the recipe paleo. My favorite is from King Arthur. You can subsitute for all purpose or gluten-free flour.
  • Banana– I used a very ripe banana because they are more sweet. Swap out for apple sauce or pumpkin.
  • Maple syrup– I only used 2 tbsp. Feel free to adjust to your liking.
  • Protein powder- I used ancient nutrition salted caramel protein powder but any protein powder will do. If you do not have any protein powder on hand swap it out for more oat flour.
  • Non-dairy milk- I used almond milk in this recipe, but feel free to use any milk of choice.
  • Nut butter- The nut butter sweetens the oatmeal bars and adds a nice nutty flavor. I used ground up but any will do.
  • Baking powder- This is our rising agent.
  • Salt
  • Cinnamon

How to Make These Maple Walnut Banana Waffles

  1. First grab your waffle maker and plug it in so that it can heat up when you are making the waffle batter.
  2. Next, in a medium-sized bowl, mash the banana unless there are no lumps. Then add in the dry ingredients.
  3. Lastly, add in your liquid of choice and mix it until a thick consistency. It should not be runny.
  4. When your waffle maker is ready, spray the inside of the waffle maker and slowly add in the batter 1 tbsp at a time. Do not overfill or it will spill out on the sides.
  5. According to your waffle maker cook as long as it takes for it to turn a golden-brown color.
  6. Repeat these steps above until no batter remains.
