Say hello to your new favorite healthy Halloween candy remake; Protein Vegan Snickers. These Protein Vegan Snickers are just like the real deal with the crunch peanuts, sticky caramel filling, and sweet chocolate coating it comes together with just a few staple ingredients.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and it is just around the corner. Let’s be real.. Costumes were not the best part of it but all the candy we got from Trick or Treating was. I don’t know about you but I always had competitions with my friends to see who got the most amount of candy and we would always trade at the end of the night.
Growing up my favorite candy was Snickers or really anything that contained chocolate. I am still a huge chocolate lover but Snickers had it all. I mean what is not to love? There’s the crunchy aspect from the peanuts, stickiness from the caramel, and the sweetness from the chocolate.
I was craving a Snickers the other day and since I am dairy-free I can’t eat the real deal anymore. That is when I came up with this recipe that is dairy-free, vegan, and can be made paleo-friendly with a couple of ingredient swaps. It is also has a sneaky bit of protein in there. I like to call this an “adult-candy bar”.
Ingredients Needed To Make this Protein Vegan Snicker Bars
- Oat or Almond Flour- This helps keep the recipe paleo and grain-free. Another flour that could be used is oat flour.
- Protein Powder- I used a vanilla-flavored protein powder so that it was not overpowering. Use any protein powder of your choice.
- Peanut Butter- Make sure to use a runny nut butter so that it will help the nougat come together and give it that peanut butter flavor. However, if you do not like peanut butter feel free to swap it out for almond or cashew butter.
- Date Syrup- This is needed to make the nougat layer so that everything binds together. You can also use maple syrup as an alternative.
- Date Spread- I got my date spread from @eatwannadate which was the caramel layer. However, you can make your date spread by blending up soaked dates in a food processor.
- Non-Dairy Milk- Any non-dairy milk will work. This is used in the nougat layer as well as the caramel layer to thin it out.
- Chocolate
- Coconut Oil
- Peanuts- This is what makes a Snickers Bar. But if you are paleo you can use almonds and if you are nut-free feel free to leave these out.
